Amb Kabral Blay Amihere
Ambassador Blay-Amihere, currently the Chairman of the Ghana Grid Company, GRIDCo is an alumnus of the University of Ghana, Legon and the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is a Chevening Scholar and also a Nieman Fellow (’91) of Harvard University. A former editor and publisher, he served as the President of the Ghana Journalists Association and the West African Journalists Association and was an Executive Member of both the Commonwealth Journalists Association and the International Federation of Journalists for several years.
He was Ghana’s High Commissioner to Sierra Leone (2001-2005) and Ambassador to Cote d’Ivoire (2006-2009). He was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Civil Law by the University of Sierra Leone in recognition of his role in promoting Ghana-Sierra Leone relations and tutorial work at Fourah Bay College in 2007. He is also a recipient of the Eagle Wing Award from the Research Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A two-term elected Chairman of the National Media Commission, Ghana’s constitutional body for media freedoms and regulation, Ambassador Blay-Amihere is the author of five books including, ‘Fighting for Freedom, the Memoirs of an African Journalists’, (2001) and ‘Between the Lion and the Elephant-Memoirs of an African Diplomat’.
