Amb Nana Bema Kumi
A career diplomat with thirty-five years in the Ghana Foreign Service, Ambassador Mrs. Kumi served at several diplomatic posts including the Ghana Mission to the United Nations in New York where she was assigned to serve on the UN Legal Committee and in the UN Social and Humanitarian Committee, the Ghana Embassy in Copenhagen with additional responsibilities for Norway, Sweden, Finland and Ireland, the former Soviet Republic and the Ghana Mission in Abuja, where she served as the Acting High Commissioner for three years.
In 2005, she was appointed as Ghana’s Ambassador to the European Union as well as to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. On her retirement from the Ghana Foreign Service in March 2011, she established the Institute of Diplomatic Practice and Development Policies (I-2DP) in Accra to help build capacity for African officials in Diplomacy and Development Policies formulation. The Institute has since trained over 600 officials from all over the world including Ghana and several African countries and organizations such as ECOWAS, the African Union and the European Centre for Development Policy Management in Maastricht.
The Institute has since August 2016 become a fully accredited post-graduate institution known as Nyansapo College with a hands-on Master of Arts programme. Ambassador Kumi has published her memoirs under the title – A COUNTRY TO SERVE AND LOVE
